Darts is a fun and engaging game that you can enjoy with friends and family. Let’s dive into the basics of playing darts:

Setting Up the Game:

  • You can start with either 501 points or 301 points. Each player begins with that score.

  • The objective is to reduce your score to exactly 0 points.

Dartboard Scoring:

  • The dartboard is divided into numbered sections from 1 to 20.

  • Each section has an outer ring (worth double points) and an inner ring (worth triple points).

  • The bullseye (center of the board) has an outer section (usually green) worth 25 points and an inner section (usually red) called the double bull or cork worth 50 points.

Throwing Darts:

  • Stand behind the oche (the line on the floor) which is 7 feet 9 1/4 inches (2.369 meters) away from the dartboard.

  • Hold the dart with 3 fingers.

  • Pull your arm back and throw the dart with a smooth motion.

  • Aim for the center of the dartboard.

Scoring Points:

  • Land in a large “single” section to earn the listed points.

  • Outer ring (green and red) doubles the point value.

  • Inner ring (small green or red sections) triples the point value.

  • Hitting the triple 20 (60 points) is the highest score with a single dart.

  • Bullseye outer section (25 points) and inner section (50 points).

Gameplay:

  • Each player throws 3 darts per round.

  • Subtract the round’s points from your total score.

  • The first player to reach exactly 0 points wins the game.

Remember to practice often and have fun! Happy darting!
