Foosball, also known as table soccer, is an exciting game that you can enjoy with friends and family. Let’s dive into the basics of playing foosball:
Setting Up the Game:
You’ll need 2-4 players, a foosball table, and a ball.
Each player controls 2-4 rods, which manipulate a total of 13 players per team.
Players stand on opposite sides, twisting their rods to get their players to “kick” the ball into their opponent’s goal.
Foosball Table Terminology:
The rods on the left side are the “defensive 3-bar” and “defensive 2-bar” (named for their proximity to the goal and the number of players attached).
In the middle is the “midfield row”, with five players that often receive the serve and pass it to the next row: the “striker row”.
The striker row, on the far right closest to your opponent’s goal, holds three players who will drive the ball into the goal.
Official Rules:
Players flip a coin to determine who goes first.
Balls are served through the serving hole.
Game play continues until someone scores, the ball goes off the table, a team calls a time out, or the ball is declared “dead” (immobile in a location where it cannot be hit by either team).
To score a goal, the ball must enter the goal; it still counts even if it bounces out afterward.
No spinning of rods to advance the ball.
Avoid moving the foosball table, banging on the sides, or slamming rods back and forth against the table walls (called “jarring”).
Foosball is all about skill, strategy, and having a blast!
