Ludo, also known as “Parcheesi,” is a classic board game that combines luck and strategy. Here are the basic rules for playing Ludo:
Number of Players:
Ludo can be played with 2–4 players of any age.
Materials Needed:
Ludo board
1 six-sided die
4 pieces of the same color for each player
Objective:
Roll the die and move your pieces clockwise around the board’s outer track.
Move all 4 of your pieces from your home base to the finishing square to win.
Setup & First Turns:
Place your 4 pieces in one of the 4 corners on the board (your home base).
Determine the first player by rolling the die. The highest roll goes first, and the game play proceeds clockwise.
Roll a 6 to move a piece out of your base onto the main track. If you roll a 1–5, your turn ends without making a move.
After rolling a 6, you earn a bonus roll. Move the piece on the starting space clockwise around the board’s main track based on the number rolled.
If you roll another 6, choose to move the piece in the starting space or move a second piece from your base into the starting space.
Movement:
Pieces move in a clockwise direction around the track according to the number rolled.
If no piece can legally move according to the number thrown, the play passes to the next player.
Winning:
Relocate all your tokens to the home space to win the game.
Ludo is a delightful game that’s perfect for boosting patience and sportsmanship in a small team, also good for family game nights!
Enjoy rolling the dice and strategizing your moves.
