Course objectives
This 12 weeks Hindi language course is aimed at students who would like to learn conversational Hindi starting with Hindi basics. The course introduces everyday language and includes activities to practice all four language skills: reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension and speaking. This course uses reference materials, cultural notes, grammar explanations, functions of language, etc. Students will be able to monitor their progress by taking a number of performance tests and a final achievement test.
After completing this course, you will be prepared to introduce yourself, ask basic questions, and conduct a brief conversation in Hindi.
Course Content
C&G’s Hindi Language Training and Certification will essentially begin with foundational topics that help learners build a strong base. Here are some key areas of the course:
1. Hindi Alphabet (Devanagari Script):
Introduce the Hindi alphabet (Devanagari script) and its pronunciation.
Teach learners how to read and write Hindi characters.
Basic Vocabulary and Phrases:
Start with common greetings, introductions, and polite expressions.
Cover essential vocabulary related to numbers, colors, family members, days of the week, and everyday objects.
2. Grammar Basics:
Nouns, pronouns, and verb conjugations (present tense).
Simple sentence structures (subject-verb-object).
3. Useful Expressions and Survival Phrases:
How to ask for directions, order food, or make simple requests.
Basic conversational phrases for everyday situations.
4. Cultural Insights:
Briefly introduce Indian culture, customs, and traditions.
Discuss cultural norms related to greetings, personal space, and social interactions.
5. Listening and Speaking Practice:
Provide audio resources for listening comprehension.
Encourage speaking practice through dialogues, role-playing, and interactive exercises.
6. Reading and Writing Skills:
Start with simple texts (short stories, dialogues, signs) to improve reading skills.
Teach basic sentence structure for writing short paragraphs.
7. Interactive Activities:
Vocabulary games, quizzes, and flashcards.
Pair/group activities to practice speaking and listening.
8. Resources:
Exposure to related Hindi courses, such as:
Bite-sized lessons based on science.
Basics, reading Devanagari script, and more.
Complete Hindi course for absolute beginners.
